Confucius

Confucius was born in the state of Lu. His orginal name was K'ung Ch'iu. His father, who was a commander of the district Lu, died when Confucius was three. He got married at age 19 and had one son and two daughters. After his mom's death in 527BC, he went into a long mourning period. After his mourning period he began his teaching career. During his teaching career, he usually traveled about and instructed a small body of disciples that gathered around him.

Confucius was a wise philosopher. He was a Chinese thinker and a social philiosopher whose teachings deeply influenced Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese thoughts and life. His philosophy empasized personal and government mortality, correctness of social relationships, justice, and sincerity. These values had gained prominece in China over ather doctrines, like Legalism.
